The conventional gravity infusion method requires the nursing staff / caregivers to manually calculate the required flow rate and monitor the infusion at periodic intervals. Given the work load faced by nursing staff in a typical hospital scenario, periodic patient monitoring for IV is an additional burden and often times, patients or their care takers complain of IV not being infused and patient discomfort. Having an IV monitoring makes nurses job easy and efficient and eliminates scope for any human errors or late intervention in case of any alarms.
