1. Try to understand the cause.
There are many causes for depression. It could be situational, genetic or side effect of a medication you are taking. Finding the root cause of the problem could be an easy way to eliminate depression from your life.
2. Change your focus.
Human mind is a good servant but a terrible master. If at all you let your mind to take control, it could create havoc and take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. To prevent this from happening, pay attention to your thoughts, focus on the present. Engage completely in your daily activities, which leaves you with lesser time to worry about the past or future.
3. Add rhythm to your life.
Your heartbeat synchronizes with the beat of the music you listen to. This shows the kind of impact music has on your body. Listen to happy and refreshing music whenever you are feeling low.

Writing a journal can have a soothing effect on your body and ease your pain. People often bury their feelings down fearing being judged. Write down your fears and worries. Writing down your problems makes it easier for you to understand the problem and will help you think clearly.
7. Reconnect with friends.
This is the hardest part. It’s normal to seek isolation when you are depressed. But once you get through that and get back with your friends, resume socialization, it will definitely have a great effect.
Exercise is not only for improving physical health, but also your mental health. Exercising releases endorphin - a chemical that improves immunity and triggers a positive feeling in the body. A simple brisk walking for at least 4-5 times a week would do.
